Shipping

Hawaii is  remote and there are limited options for shipping. The US Postal Service (USPS) provides the fastest, most reliable option for our customers.

Once we receive your order, we will package and mail your coffee within 1-2 days as we would like you to enjoy the freshest tasting coffee. For all domestic orders we use USPS First Class Package or Priority Mail. Although we cannot guarantee the arrival time of any package, USPS First Class or Priority Mail normally reaches all domestic U.S. destinations within 3-5 delivery days (Sunday and Federal Holidays excluded).

Using USPS Priority Mail packaging means that shipping your order is by volume not weight (if it fits, it ships) so multiple orders saves on shipping. Below is a table that shows the cost of shipping different size orders for 2020.

Returns:

We can’t accept returns on coffee due to its perishable nature.  However, we want to make sure you are completely satisfied. If you have any issues with your coffee or if there are errors in your order, please contact us at hogheavencoffee@gmail.com within one week of receiving your order.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is Estate Grown coffee?  

“Estate Grown” means that all of the coffee is grown and produced at the source; in our case here on our farm Pua’a Lani (Hog Heaven) on the Hāmākua coast of the Big Island, Hawaii. A lot of coffee is a blend of different coffees from different farms, countries, or continents.

2. Where is Ninole?  

Ninole is one of the small former sugar cane plantation communities located on the Hāmākua coast along the northeast (windward, or “wet”) side of the Big Island of Hawaii.

3. How is coffee like Hog Heaven grown in Hamakua different than Kona Coffee?

Kona coffee is grown on the “dry” (10″-40″ rain/year) leeward (west) side of the Big Island in sparse soil. Hamakua coffee is grown on the “wet” (100″-200″) side, in the deep rich volcanic soil sometimes referred to as “The Hamakua Gold”.  Generally Kona coffee is robust, while Hamakua coffee is smooth and mild

4. What is coffee parchment?

Parchment is coffee processed to the stage where it can be stored before roasting.  The coffee beans have been pulped and dried but not yet milled and roasted.  Some people who roast their own, prefer to RIP (or Roast In Parchment), which means roasting the coffee with the parchment, as the parchment itself has flavor.  

Glossary of Terms

Sometimes we use terms that may not be used in everyday language, so to clarify below are terms we use when describing the coffee world.

Cherry: coffee bean picked from the coffee tree.

Pulp: the skin and fruit of the coffee cherry

Coffee Bean: coffee seeds or the cherry minus pulp

Parchment:  dry coffee bean where the outer skin or layer is still intact

Dry Milling: removes the parchment or outer layer. Usually just before roasting

This Privacy Policy describes how your personal information is collected, used, and shared when you visit or make a purchase from hogheavencoffee.com (the “Site”).

PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT

Farm Tour

Our farm is open if you happen to visit the Big Island and want to visit our coffee farm, email us at hogheavencoffee@gmail.com for an appointment. We do require reservation. Although we will be outside, we request that all visitors follow the Covid-19 protocol and wear masks at all times. Also, must love dogs! They’ll be the first to greet you!
